Why shoot in black & white?

- Lee Jeffries
In my opinion, black and white photography puts more meaning or emphasis into the picture. Like what is said by Shane, no distractions. If the colors were present, we wouldn’t pay much attention to facial features. We would only pay attention to the colors. Some pictures just look more interesting in black and white than in color.
For example, a very aged man takes a portrait and one is in color, the other is in black and white. Of course our eyes would look past the black and white photo because black and white is just more boring to the eye’s first sight. After looking at the colored picture for a brief minute, you look onto the black and white. You notice that the man has many wrinkles, in which you didn’t pay much attention to in the colored picture. Then you look at his smiling lines, his eyes, and everything else. Perhaps it’s just me and how I look at things. Whatever it may be, black and white photography is very appealing to my eye just as much as colored pictures.
